Christchurch schools - one year on

06/09/2013

One year on from the Government's announcement of closures and mergers of Christchurch schools, school communities are still coping with change.

Burwood School is one of the Christchurch schools identified for merger at the end of this year. The school is holding a celebration weekend in November and is inviting the wider community, including other schools throughout New Zealand as well as past staff and students of the school. For more details, contact celebration@burwood.school.nz or visit www.burwood.school.nz

Meanwhile, Phillipstown School, through the Phillipstown Community Centre Charitable Trust, is taking the Ministry to court at the end of September, seeking a judicial review of the flawed "renewal process". The community is urgently seeking support towards legal costs.
