Member Advisory Officer

NZEI Te Riu Roa is looking for a Member Advisory Officer to work in our Member Support Centre.

In a typical day you might advise members on parental leave, give information on teacher registration, update membership details and empower members to resolve workplace issues.   The work is varied, fast and you will use your good judgement and empathy to provide accurate advice.

Full training to the education sector employment environment is provided – you will not be afraid to delve into collective agreements, research legislation and consult with colleagues in determining the best advice for our members.

The Member Support Team is dedicated, hardworking and passionate about our work. It is a collaborative and congenial team.

You will provide advice and support to NZEI Te Riu Roa members and understand the work of unions. You must enjoy helping people, and be able to quickly develop a rapport with members over the phone, encouraging them to outline their situations.  You understand confidentiality and are efficient in your work.

Advice is recorded on our membership database and you will be accurate at recording information and ensuring referrals and follow up actions occur in a timely and systematic manner.

NZEI Te Riu Roa is a dynamic and innovative union representing the interests of 47,000 education sector workers in New Zealand.  We are a Treaty of Waitangi based organisation and work to genuinely incorporate principles of biculturalism in our every day work.

We offer competitive terms and conditions of employment, a great place to work and the opportunity to make a direct contribution to the lives of education workers and students in New Zealand.
