Special Education Policy Review

Annual Meeting 2007 received a report on a consultation process for a review of NZEI’s special education policy. Read the endorsed report: Special Education Policy Review: A Framework for Consultation.

A working group, representative of NZEI’s membership met on 30 January to consider the responses from members, check current policy , identify gaps and confirm the ongoing process.

Members of the working are National Executive members Diane Leggett, Vinny Ridgeway, Megan Rich, Fiona Matapo and Nigel Wilson.  They are joined by Ester Watson (Conifer Grove School), Bronwyn Peacock (Nelson Park School), Cristina Gnida ( GSE Hutt), Gael Trevathan ( Sara Cohen School), Jill Merrick (Titahi Bay School), John Harper (Ashburton College), Amy Mitchell ( Stepping Stones Childcare Centre) and Andrea Andresen (Somerfield School)

Focus Groups

A second round of consultation with members will continue until early May 2008. Members are invited to contact their NZEI regional office for information about setting up or joining a focus group in their region.
