Early Childhood Teacher Training and Development

Support to Learn – Learn to Support
Support to Learn is a TRCC course on inclusive practice for Early Childhood Teachers to gain confidence and practical skills for their work with children who have special learning needs. Workshops include early identification of problems, referrals, partnerships with parents and professionals, individual plans, and working with children. The course will be held in Wellington from 29 September to 1 October 2008. Read more (0.1mb pdf)

Whakawhanaungatanga - Home-based Early Childhood Education and Care
This TRCC course will challenge, extend and enrich you by providing opportunities to: explore relationships in home-based settings, participate in practical workshops and hear challenging keynote addresses, delve into the complexities of your role in the home-based setting, influence the direction of home-based services in Aotearoa, build relationships and have fun. The Support Grant for provisionally registered early childhood teachers has been increased from July 1. It will now be $3,934 annually. The monthly rate has gone from $313.50 to $327.83 per teacher.

Beeby Scholarships

New Zealand-based educators working in early childhood, primary, secondary, tertiary, or adult and community sectors, or educational researchers may now apply for the Beeby Fellowship, given jointly by the NZCER and UNESCO. The Fellow will research an innovative programme they are involved in, with a focus on aspects that have enhanced practice and students’ learning. More information - NZCER web site
