Kindergarten Lump Sum Payments and Backpay

Lump sum payments and back pay payments are being made to kindergarten teachers over the next few weeks. NZEI News 36 contains information about dates for payment.

To qualify for a lump sum payment, kindergarten teachers must have been NZEI members and working in a kindergarten on both November 30 2007 and March 20 2008. More information about the terms for payment are available here.

Collective Agreement for Kindergarten Support Staff

NZEI Te Riu Roa has completed bargaining with six employers for a new collective agreement to cover the Support Staff and Centre-based student teachers in some areas. You can download the 2008 - 2011 Claim here.

Early Childhood Education Collective Agreement (ECECA) formerly Consenting Parties

NZEI members and employers have ratified a settlement after last year's Consenting Parties negotiations, which includes the continued implementation of pay parity. The agreement has been re-named the Early Childhood Education Collective Agreement (ECECA).

Kindergarten Teachers', Head Teachers' and Senior Teachers' Collective Agreement 2007-2009

Kindergarten Teachers Ratify New Settlement

After 44 meetings around the country, 95 percent of kindergarten teachers attending ratification meetings have backed the settlement package. Read the ratification release here.

The key elements of the settlement include:

  • An agreement on salaries that retains the unified salary scale.
  • Agreement on an hours of work framework, with provisions included in the collective agreement to ensure certainty for teachers
    working in different kindergarten models.
  • Processes for managing change during reorganisation.
  • Provisions about enhancing professional leadership in the kindergarten sector.

Barnardos

Negotiations will take place later this year for the renewal of the Collective Agreement. Members will be sent information shortly about meetings in April to discuss and develop claims.

Salvation Army/NZEI Collective Employment Agreement

Teachers in Salvation Army early childhood centres will be involved in renewing their agreement later this year.
