More than 400 elected representatives and observers from NZEI Te Riu Roa branches and district councils around the country came together in September last year for NZEI's yearly conference, known as Annual Meeting. Annual Meeting 2006 will be held in Wellington in the September term break.

New Zealand ’s largest education union, NZEI Te Riu Roa, says its vital that any incoming Government promotes sound and effective education and employment relations policies.
Annual Meeting Awards
A group of 12 outstanding principals, teachers and other education professionals who have made a significant contribution to education, were honoured by their colleagues at Annual Meeting. They included Life Membership for Hapimana Toby Rikihana, Fellow awards to principals Liz Horgan, Brian Laing and Ann Gover and to support staff member Donna Mason, and Associate awards to Caroline Mareko, Dawn Osman, Denise Cornford, Judith Hinton, Sandra Jenkins, Sara Rogers and Winnie Emery.
