Support Staff Collective Agreement 2009 (SSCA)
An NZEI presentation to the Ministry of Education and the School Trustees Association regarding the development of claims for the renewal of the SSCA. The document addresses issues of ORRS funding, Fair Pay, QES and LCI, Pay scales, and Collective Agreement Pass-On / Individual Agreements.

Kaiarahi i te Reo, Therapists', ATSSD AND Special Education Assistants' Collective Agreement 2009 (KRCA)

Support Staff Forum
Negotiations for the new Support Staff collective agreement will commence in February 2009. If you have any comments or ideas please post them in the new Support Staff forum.

Member Only Benefits from SSCA claims
  • Pay Jolt – The Pay Jolt on 1 July 2009 shall be for members only.  Non members should not receive the pay jolt until after 1 February 2010.
  • Amalgamation of Scale – It is proposed that the new support staff pay scale will come into effect on 1 January 2010 for members only.  Non members will not have access to the new pay scales until 1 July 2010.
  • Annualisation – For employees on fixed term agreements for members only for first year. 
  • Allowance for Sign Language – The claim is for an allowance of .30c per hour to a maximum of $515 pa for members who are required to use sign language.

Annualisation
Annualisation allows Support Staff who work less than 52 weeks a year to have projected earnings spread across the whole year. This means you will receive equal fortnightly pays for the entire year.

Work Programmes
The Ministry of Education, the NZEI Te Riu Roa and the NZ School Trustees' Association (NZSTA) have established work programmes to develop options for a new Support Staff remuneration structure that will assist schools and the Support Staff workforce in the 21st century.
