NZEI nominee to the New Zealand Teachers Council
It is time to nominate NZEI members to stand for election as the NZEI nominee to the New Zealand Teachers Council.
NZEI Te Riu Roa Rules 7.1 govern this election.
The position of NZEI nominee is significant, because the nominee helps ensure that the voice of practitioners is clearly heard at the Council table.
Annual Meeting 2011 representatives vote at Annual Meeting in August, and the successful candidate becomes the NZEI nominee. When the current nominee’s term of office is completed, the Minister of Education seeks from NZEI the name of the nominee whom she can appoint as a member of the Teachers Council.
Members who are registered teachers holding current practising certificates are eligible for election as the nominee, except the current National President, Vice President or Immediate Past President.
