WRETANZ is the Reading Recovery Teachers Association of New Zealand - Supporting Reading Recovery teachers and ensuring the intervention’s profile is high.
Reading Recovery is the early literacy intervention for the lowest achieving children after one year at school. Fifteen hundred full and part time teachers currently deliver Reading Recovery in more than two thirds of New Zealand schools.

WRETANZ was set up to further the provision of Reading Recovery and to provide members with professional and collegial support; to work for recognition of Reading Recovery training and get fair working conditions for all Reading Recovery teachers. WRETANZ aims to gain support for the intervention and raise its profile among teachers and in the general community.
