On 5 April 2012 the NZEI Resource Teachers Learning & Behaviour Reference Group met at National Office in Wellington. There was input from those employed as cluster managers and as RTLB. Members of the reference group are: Annette Macdonald, Roger Wyatt, Ramona Taogaga, Cherye Middleton, Julie Fox, Stephanie Evans and Janeve Green.
The purpose of the meeting was to review the history of the Transformation from the RTLB point of view, to report on the reality of working in the transformed service, and to discuss possible on-going structures and activities so that the RTLB views and experiences can continue to be heard.
The reference group members shared comments from the field about working in the new service as it settles into the new employment structure.
The group discussed ways to move forward. They determined that while most matters could be resolved at the worksite level, strengthening RTLB member involvement in NZEI structures at local and regional levels was important.
There was agreement that the reference group should continue and would work closely with RTLB in their clusters and the regional focus groups.
While ERO will review the service in 2013 and NZSTA is currently conducting a survey, NZEI needs to have evidence so it can respond to the ERO and NZSTA reports.
