Teacher Refresher Courses
The Teachers' Refresher Course Committee (TRCC) was set up education visionary Dr Clarence Beeby back in in 1946. The  aim is to :
  • Improve the quality of teaching and learning in New Zealand education.
  • Provide quality professional development for all New Zealand educators.
  • Deliver national courses ‘for teachers by teachers’.
  • Take account of research, and model best practice in education, in course planning.

This course is for infant and toddler kaiako, teachers and caregivers who will be encouraged to embrace the treaty-based context of Aotearoa New Zealand and the early childhood curriculum document Te Whāriki.

Rātau kua wehe atu ki tua o te ārai, whakangaro atu rā. Tātau kua whakarerea mai nei, tēnā koutou, tēnā koutou, tēnā tātau katoa. He wānanga tēnei mō ngā kaiwhakaako e hiahia ana ki te whakapakari i ō rātau mōhiotanga, mātauranga me ō rātau pūkenga whakaako e hāngai ana ki ēnei mea te Pānui, te Tuhituhi me te Kōrero, i roto i te reo Maori.

In this course you will have opportunities to hear one of NZ’s foremost experts in the field of Maori Medium Literacy, namely Cath Rau. You will also participate in Reading, Writing and Oral Language Workshops; engage with keynote speakers who are experts in their particular field; interact with current classroom practitioners; network and have fun.

Classroom Release Time / CRT
Classroom Release Time or CRT has been available to full time classroom teachers from Term 4 2005. It was negotiated as part of the NZEI Collective Agreement for teachers in 2004. Schools will be provided with staffing to cover the release time. Read more about CRT here.
