NZEI and Schools

Join NZEI

NZEI Te Riu Roa was formed, more than 125 years ago to promote quality public education. We continue with this objective, to this day for schooling in New Zealand.

We cover support staff, who work in the compulsory school sector and teachers and principals in the primary, intermediate, area and special schools.

We negotiate collective agreements for that cover employees in state schools including Primary Teachers, Primary Principals, Support Staff, Kaiarahi i te Reo, Therapists, ATSSD and Special Education Assistants, Area School Teachers and Area School Principals

Alongside industrial matters, NZEI Te Riu Roa has a strong professional focus, including initial teacher education, teacher registration, professional learning and development, career progression, curriculum and assessment and appraisal.
Students undertaking initial teacher education and starting out in teaching can get involved with New Educators Network, a support network for students and beginning teachers, which organises a variety of professional development and networking activities.

Social Networks

This group is for support staff professionals working in New Zealand schools and early childhood education.

If you are a member of NZEI Te Riu Roa who is a new educator - or someone who wants to work alongside new educators, then YOU are part of the New Educators Network.

A facebook group is for anybody who wants to stand up for our kids and oppose harmful education policies such as school league tables. It's also a place to celebrate the great work our world-class schools are doing to support our children's learning.
