At the 2012 NZEI Te Riu Roa Annual Meeting a report was presented called “Educating Pasifika for Success”. The following motion was moved from the floor:
That NZEI Te Riu Roa constitutes a Pasifika Fono for interested members to:
a) Respond to and prioritise issues raised in the “Educating Pasifika for Success” report to Annual Meeting 2012,
b) Examine and review NZEI Te Riu Roa policy on Pasifika Education,
c) Establish a communication strategy to facilitate consultation among the membership on Pasifika issues.
As a result a Pasifika workplan spanning 2013 – 2014 has been developed.

Joining the Pasifika Network
Part of this work also entails establishing a Pasifika network for both NZEI Te Riu Roa Pasifika members and other members who work with Pasifika pupils or are interested in Pasifika student learning.
Members of the Pasifika network will be kept informed of upcoming events in the NZEI Te Riu Roa Pasifika calendar and become part of the identifiable Pasifika community within our membership.
If this sounds like you please email firstname.lastname@example.org to be added to the Pasifika network.
