Young Member's Network

YMN is the place for young, new and student teachers! Anyone who joins NZEI Te Riu Roa, and notes that they are a student, Year 1 or 2 teacher on the membership form, is automatically a member.

We know that your first few years in a school or centre can be an overwhelming experience.

If you are a Provisionally Registered Teacher (PRT), NZEI holds seminars every year to give you information about registration, your rights under your collective agreement and an opportunity to ask questions and discuss issues that affect you as a beginning teacher.

News and Resources:

PRT Checklist
NZEI's Provisionally Registered Teacher checklist (0.1mb pdf) covers the most common problems that PRTs face when first starting out. If you answer 'No' to any of these questions, please discuss this with your tutor teacher or principal. If this is not possible, contact your field officer or takawaenga. More information for PRTs can be found on the Teacher Registration section of this site.
