NZEI’s units at 10 Mckee Ave Rotorua are available to all NZEI members and their families and friends for holidays, as well as NZEI members and their families needing a place to recover from illness. (Genuine convalescence has priority booking).
Situated near the Whakarewarewa thermal area and Forest Park (home to some of the best Mountain Bike tracks in NZ), the Rotorua Golf Course, Leisureland and close to shops and hotels, the units provide comfortable, basic facilities, including:
- Cooking facilities for 6 people, including a fridge/freezer, stove and microwave
- Television and radio
- Two bedrooms (1 double, 2 single beds) plus a fold-away bed and bed-settee in lounge, with blankets and pillows
- Washing machine and ironing facilities
- Private backyard with picnic table
- Carport

Once you have a date, you MUST pay a deposit (1 night's accomodation - $50.00) within 14 days of making the booking.
Keys
Entrance keys are locked in a key box at the front door. You will be given a code 7 – 10 days prior to your arrival. Instructions are listed at the entrance. Other keys needed are hanging up in the kitchen.(Please remember to scramble the numbers after use .)
Deposits and payments
Deposit of $50 per unit booked to be paid within 2 weeks of confirmation of booking. (If not paid then booking may be forfeited.) Balance owing to be paid within one week after departure.Payment options:
- Internet banking to BNZ A/C 02 0412 0038785 02 (N.Z.E.I unit account – Rotorua branch).
- Payment to above account at any BNZ Branch.
- Leave payment in money box in Dining room cupboard. (envelopes provided)
- Send cheque to 60 Kawaha Pt Rd, Rotorua. (Make payable to New Zealand Education Institute.)
With all payments please reference name of person who made the booking and dates of bookings.)
Bookings are done up to 6 months in advance only.
If you would like to receive a receipt other than just the booking confirmation note , then please email us requesting this along with your postal address.

You need to bring
- Linen – sheets, pillowcases, towels and teatowels
- Cleaning/washing expendables (cloths, detergents, toilet paper, pegs) as the units are not serviced.
- Your mobile phone - there is no telephone in the unit.
The units are smoke and pet free. The units may have to be vacated at short notice if an urgent convalescent situation arises.
