Men's Network

NZEI Men's Network looks at issues such as teacher stress, educating boys, career paths, men's health issues, fatherhood, physical/sexual abuse. The Network is made up of one member of each NZEI District Council, who in turn co-ordinates a local network.

Current Men's Network members include Chris Eccersall – Panther (chair), Ian Leckie, Colin Tarr, Nigel Wilson, Ron Graham, and Karl Vasau.

Guidelines for entitlement to rest breaks in the ECE and Compulsory Education Sectors

NZEI Te Riu Roa, various sector groups and the Ministry of Education have been in discussion over the impact of an amendment to the Employment Relations Act that introduced a statutory entitlement to rest breaks. These documents outlinine some broad guidance on the issue for the ECE and Compulsory Education sectors.

Taumata Whanonga - Video coverage

The Taumata Whanonga was held at Te Papa on 16 and 17 March 2009. Planned by the Ministry of Education in conjunction with representatives of various organisations, it focussed on behaviour issues in schools and early childhood centres. Video coverage of the keynote speakers is now available for viewing.
