Kindergarten CA Settled
After negotiations lasting for over a year, the Kindergarten Teachers, Head Teachers and Senior Teachers' Collective Agreement has been signed by NZEI Te Riu Roa and the Ministry of Education. This agreement continues pay parity for teachers and maintains most conditions despite the financial constraints the sector faces. Solid support from kindergarten members saw a number of clawbacks removed from the table and changes to non-contact time watered down and delayed. After two rounds of paid union meetings more than 500 kindergartens and association workplaces participated in a ballot that saw 1534 members vote in favour of ratification and 164 vote against. This represents more than 90 per cent of those who participated voting in favour. Your negotiating team has done a wonderful job representing the interests of all members in a difficult industrial and financial climate The settlement brings some stability to the sector for the next two years.
