0800 NZEI HELP (693 443)

What is 0800 NZEI HELP?NZEI 0800 HELP is a free national service to all NZEI members so that they can get the help they need when they need it. It builds on the excellent service NZEI currently offers members, and has been established after a successful pilot service in 2008. Open from 8.30am-5pm every weekday, it is staffed by experienced NZEI staff. The service deals with your calls or emails about anything from a routine enquiry about your next branch meeting date through to support for disciplinary processes. Much of the work of 0800 NZEI HELP is done over the phone, via email or in writing. Staff provide advice and support to members to enable you to resolve your own workplace issues where possible. Where issues are more complex, your situation can be referred to NZEI industrial officers or field staff in your nearest NZEI office or NZEI's legal team. |
Pre-existing issuesNew members who are experiencing issues in their workplace which pre-date their union membership, or whose membership had lapsed at the time the issue arose, will not be eligible for assistance from NZEI in respect of that issue.
Conduct
Union staff will treat all members with dignity and respect. Likewise, union staff expect to be treated with dignity and respect by members. Abusive, hostile or threatening behaviour towards union staff will not be tolerated. The 0800 NZEI HELP service may withdraw the provision of advice or representation to a member if it is considered the member's conduct towards a union staff person is inappropriate. ComplaintsOur union takes its commitment to providing quality service to members very seriously and therefore has a mechanism for resolving situations where members may be dissatisfied with the service or advice they have received from the 0800 NZEI HELP service.
